On May 29, 2011, Latoya Kenny, a 28-year-old mother of two, was fatally shot during a block party that turned violent in East Oakland, California. The incident took place near 88th Avenue and International Boulevard, where the peaceful gathering escalated into a "sideshow" involving cars performing dangerous stunts, such as donuts.
