White male Jeremy Mark Zimmerman, 45, was shot and killed on the night of Friday, June 12, 2015, just north of downtown Las Vegas. Shortly after 8:25 p.m., police were called to the area of the 800 block of North D Street, beneath the Interstate 15 underpass, where Zimmerman had been struck by gunfire. He was later identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, which confirmed his age and name.
Contemporary reports noted the killing marked one of Metro’s mounting homicide inquiries that year.
Accounts from the scene indicated that Zimmerman, who was on the sidewalk, approached a white four-door car under the D Street/I-15 underpass. During that brief encounter, shots were fired and the vehicle fled, leaving Zimmerman mortally wounded from a gunshot to the head. Officers and medical responders could not save him. The coroner publicly released his identity the following Monday, June 15.
Investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide case and appealed for tips from the public. At the time, police had not announced any arrests, and reports did not name a suspect. Subsequent public listings of open homicide investigations and retrospective tallies of 2015 killings do not reflect an arrest in Zimmerman’s case, underscoring its unresolved status in the years that followed.
