In the fall of 2016, a brutal act of violence senselessly cut short the life of Richard Ozuna, a 58-year-old Caucasian male. On November 9, 2016, first responders in Las Vegas were called to a distressing scene near a tire shop on West Sahara Avenue. There, they discovered Ozuna, unconscious and bearing the marks of a severe beating.
Investigators determined that he had been attacked with an object, the force of which resulted in a fractured skull.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Ozuna's injuries proved to be insurmountable. He was transferred to hospice care, where he ultimately succumbed to the grievous wounds inflicted upon him. The incident was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department as a homicide.
For months, the case remained under investigation as detectives worked to piece together the events that led to Ozuna's untimely death. Their persistent efforts eventually bore fruit. Through what authorities described as a lengthy investigation, a suspect was identified in connection with the fatal beating. In August of the following year, law enforcement officers located and apprehended 42-year-old William Johnson at an apartment complex in the east valley of Las Vegas. Johnson was taken into custody and subsequently faced charges related to the death of Richard Ozuna.
