Ermias Kassaye, a 26-year-old resident of San Francisco, was shot and killed on June 28, 2012, near his home in the Ingleside neighborhood. Kassaye was returning from soccer practice in Oakland when he was attacked. The shooting was carried out execution-style at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Howth Street. His family believes the incident could have been a case of mistaken identity, as Ermias was found with all his belongings intact.
