On July 14, 2016, Travis Santel Jones, a 32-year-old male, was fatally shot inside his apartment in St. Louis, Missouri. The violent incident occurred during a robbery at his residence, marking the beginning of a short but deadly spree by the perpetrator. Jones was targeted in his own home, where he sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities arrived at the scene to find the victim deceased, initiating a homicide investigation that would soon link his death to other violent crimes in the area committed within a span of just a few days.

Investigators identified the suspect as Brandon J. Harris, a 35-year-old man from North St. Louis County. Police determined that Harris had killed Jones on that Thursday in July and then, just two days later on July 16, shot and killed another man, 37-year-old Patrick Wilhite. The spree did not end there, as Harris was also connected to a double homicide that occurred on July 20, 2016, in the Castle Point neighborhood, where he killed Dana Robinson and Antonio C. Harris during another armed robbery. The string of violence terrorized the community and led to a high-priority manhunt by local law enforcement.

Harris was eventually apprehended and faced multiple charges, including first-degree murder for the deaths of Jones and Wilhite. In legal proceedings that concluded in early 2020, Harris avoided a death penalty trial by pleading guilty to reduced charges. He entered guilty pleas for two counts of second-degree murder, robbery, and other related offenses regarding the deaths of Travis Santel Jones and Patrick Wilhite. Consequently, Harris was sentenced to life in prison, a term that was added to the six concurrent life sentences he had already received for the Castle Point murders, ensuring he would remain incarcerated for the remainder of his life.
