In the fall of 2018, a 31-year-old man named Riccardo Lewis, had his life cut short in a senseless act of violence on the west side of Detroit. On the evening of October 9th, Lewis had left a friend's house and driven to Fat Boyz Steak and Chicken on Seven Mile Road to grab a bite to eat. After placing his order, he returned to the passenger seat of the black Ford Escape he was in and sent a text to his mother to let her know he was on his way.
While he was waiting for his food, an
unknown individual approached the passenger side of the vehicle and fired multiple shots, striking and killing Riccardo. The shooter then fled the scene, and as of a year after the incident, was still at large.
Riccardo Lewis was a graduate of Farmington High School where he had been a talented basketball player with PAL, winning four championships. He had dreams of opening his own designer clothing store. He was a father, leaving behind a young daughter. The community and his family were left devastated by his sudden and violent death.
In the wake of the shooting, authorities sought help from the public to identify the person responsible for Riccardo's murder. Crime Stoppers offered a cash reward of up to $2,500 for any information that would lead to an arrest in the case. Despite these efforts, the case remained unsolved a year later, with the killer still unidentified. The investigation into the death of Riccardo Lewis remains ongoing as his family continues to seek justice.
