In the winter of 2011, a somber discovery brought a painful end to a weeks-long search for a missing man. The body of 39-year-old James Mullen, a male resident of Oak Park, was found in his snow-covered Ford Explorer on the southwest side of Detroit. An autopsy would later reveal that he had been shot to death. For three weeks, Mullen's whereabouts had been a mystery to his family, who reported him missing after he failed to return from a visit to relatives in the city.
