On the evening of April 26, 2011, John Stewart, a 56-year-old Black male, was at his residence on the east side of Detroit, Michigan. The home was located in the 19000 block of Dresden Street near Manning Street. At approximately 10:30 p.m., a violent incident occurred while Stewart was inside the dwelling, resulting in him sustaining fatal wounds. First responders arrived at the scene, but Stewart ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators later determined that three individuals were involved in the home invasion that led to Stewart's death. Crime Stoppers of Michigan subsequently issued a call for information regarding the case, categorizing it as an unsolved homicide and offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for tips leading to an arrest.
