On the morning of May 1, 2012, Faraj 'Fred' Dally, a 63-year-old Chaldean-American man, was preparing to open his longtime business, the Medicine Chest party store, on Dexter Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. As he got out of his car around 9 a.m., he was tragically ambushed in a robbery that would cut his life short and send ripples of grief through the community he had served for decades.
