On a summer morning in 2013, the body of 31-year-old Lamond Ford, a male resident of Detroit, was discovered in a vacant field on the city's west side. The father of two had been brutally beaten and shot in what authorities believe was a robbery. The grim discovery was made on August 3rd in the area of Longacre Street and Diversey Avenue, near the Southfield Freeway.
Investigators found evidence suggesting the crime may have originated elsewhere.
Blood was discovered in the basement of a house that Ford had been in the process of remodeling, located just down the street from where his body was ultimately found. This led his mother to believe that the initial attack may have occurred at the renovation property before his body was moved to the field.
In the wake of his death, Ford's family pleaded for answers and for the public's help in finding those responsible for his murder. Described as a man with a lot of life left to live, his loved ones remembered his ability to quickly learn and pick up new things, a quality they saw being passed down to his two young sons, who were just 4 and 5 years old at the time of their father's death.
Despite the family's pleas and the offer of a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest, the case has grown cold over the years. There have been no reports of any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murder of Lamond Ford, leaving his family still searching for justice.
