On a Thursday morning in October of 2013, the life of 20-year-old Tyler 'T.J.' Taylor was tragically cut short on the east side of Detroit. His body was discovered lying on the sidewalk in the 12000 block of Duchess, near Kelly Road and Morang Drive. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. At the time of the incident, Taylor, who had celebrated his birthday just the week before, was on his way to work.
In the wake of the devastating loss, Taylor's family made a public plea for any information that could lead to the individuals responsible for his death. Described as a young man who was actively preparing to earn his GED after attending Denby High School, Taylor was also a dedicated caregiver to his younger brother and his elderly grandmother, both of whom had health complications.
Despite the family's appeal and the offering of a cash reward of up to $2,500 by Crime Stoppers of Michigan for information leading to an arrest, the case has seemingly grown cold over the years. Law enforcement released very few details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting and had not publicly identified any suspects in the immediate aftermath of the crime. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for a family still seeking justice for the loss of their loved one.
