On March 26, 2017, 32-year-old Carmell Smith was tragically killed in Detroit, Michigan. The shooting took place around 5:30 p.m. on the city's northwest side, specifically in the 7300 block of Penrod Street near West Warren Avenue and the Southfield Freeway. Carmell was sitting in a car with her boyfriend when a black Nissan crossover pulled up beside them.
