On a cold Tuesday night in Baltimore, the life of William Davis was tragically cut short. On January 9, 2007, the 26-year-old Black male was found shot at 1200 North Caroline Street. He was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The night of January 9th was a particularly violent one in the city, with a total of five murders recorded, including that of Davis.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement began their investigation into the rash of killings. By early February of that year, out of the 29 homicides that had occurred in Baltimore, 24 remained unsolved, including the case of William Davis.
Months later, in July 2007, a report on the city's homicides still listed the investigation into William Davis's death as 'open'. The case was part of a troubling statistic for Baltimore, with approximately 70 percent of that year's murders yet to be solved, leaving many perpetrators still on the streets. Despite the passage of time, publicly available information and online records indicate that no arrests have ever been made in connection with the shooting of William Davis, and the case remains an unsolved homicide.
