In the summer of 2008, the life of a 30-year-old Black man, George Nixon Blain, was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. On the evening of August 9th, Blain was in the 1700 block of North Bradford Street when he became a victim of homicide. The incident was one of 234 killings to plague the city that year, a statistic that, while lower than the previous year, still reflected the persistent violence gripping its streets.
The investigation into Blain's death was assigned to Detective John McGrath of the Baltimore Police Department. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, Blain's case was one of many that proved difficult to solve. As of early 2009, his murder remained unsolved, joining the ranks of 138 other open homicide cases from that year in the city.
