On the afternoon of January 3, 2010, the life of 33-year-old Marcal Antwan Walton, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. His death was not a random act of violence but the result of a calculated kidnapping that ended in his murder. The orchestrators of this crime were members of the notorious Black Guerilla Family gang, a powerful and violent organization with a significant presence in Baltimore's streets and prison systems.
The events leading to Walton's death
were set in motion when a high-ranking leader of the BGF authorized his abduction. The plan was to kidnap, extort, and rob Walton. During the course of the abduction, a ransom was demanded for his safe return. A woman named Kimberly McIntosh, known as "Sister Kim," was allegedly tasked with picking up the ransom money. However, the situation escalated, and at some point during the kidnapping, Marcal Walton attempted to escape his captors. In his desperate bid for freedom, he was shot and killed. His body was later discovered in the 2300 block of Ocala Avenue.
The investigation into Walton's murder uncovered a web of organized crime and ruthless gang activity. Baltimore homicide detectives identified a man named William “Jim Dog” Rhodes as a possible suspect in the abduction and murder. The case was part of a much larger federal investigation into the Black Guerilla Family's extensive criminal enterprise, which included drug trafficking, extortion, and violence. This broader investigation ultimately led to the indictment and arrest of numerous BGF members.
In a significant development, a key leader of the BGF, identified in court documents as Evans, pleaded guilty to a federal racketeering conspiracy charge. As part of his plea, Evans admitted to authorizing the kidnapping and murder of Marcal Antwan Walton. His guilty plea also shed light on the inner workings of the BGF, revealing a pattern of violence and intimidation. The investigation also led to the arrest of Kimberly McIntosh, who was charged in connection with the BGF's racketeering activities and was subsequently convicted and sentenced on drug and racketeering charges. The murder of Marcal Antwan Walton stands as a grim example of the BGF's violent reign and the far-reaching consequences of their criminal operations in Baltimore.
