On the evening of February 12, 2015, in the 300 block of Collins Avenue, Edwards was shot and killed. The man who pulled the trigger was Dante Bailey, also known as 'Gutta,' the formidable and undisputed leader of the Murdaland Mafia Piru. The motive for the murder, as outlined by federal prosecutors, was Bailey's belief that Edwards had been disloyal to the gang. This act of violence was not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of intimidation, retaliation, and control that defined Bailey's reign over his criminal enterprise.
The investigation into Edwards' death was part of a much larger federal operation targeting the Murdaland Mafia Piru.
