Frank Sowokinos, age 39, was killed on November 2, 2015, in Mosswood Park, Oakland, California. The shooting occurred at around 7:32 p.m., and the suspect was reported to have fled the scene on a bicycle. Sowokinos, affectionately known by friends as "the Viking" and "the gentle giant," had been a part of the local community for years and was especially known from the Occupy Oakland protests.
