Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported him to the nearby Shock Trauma center, a place all too familiar with
the city's relentless bloodshed. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Dankins succumbed to his injuries, becoming another statistic in a city grappling with a surge in violent crime. He was one of three people killed in Baltimore in a span of roughly 24 hours, a grim testament to the challenges facing law enforcement.
In the days that followed, an investigation into the shooting was launched. However, the case quickly grew cold. The circumstances and motive behind the fatal shooting remained elusive, and no significant leads or potential suspects were publicly identified. The community, often silenced by fear or mistrust, offered little information to aid the investigation. To this day, the death of James Dankins remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with his murder.
