On a cold December day in Baltimore, the life of 18-year-old Quincy Jermaine Hammonds Jr. was tragically cut short. On December 26, 2017, Hammonds was fatally shot in the Northwest district of the city, becoming another victim of the gun violence that plagued Baltimore that year. His death was one of 343 homicides in the city in 2017, a year that set a record for killings per capita.
