In the lively atmosphere of Mardi Gras in New Orleans on March 4, 2014, a violent incident cut short the life of 28-year-old Kendrell Fields. He was fatally shot in a double homicide that also claimed the life of 25-year-old Deron Rashad Hitchens, Sr. The shooting occurred in the parking lot outside Mardi Gras World, a popular venue, following a concert.
