In the spring of 2015, a tragic series of events unfolded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, beginning with the violent death of a young mother-to-be and ending with the heartbreaking loss of her newborn son, Brenton Mills. The infant, a male, was born on Friday, April 24, 2015, the same day his mother, 29-year-old Brittney Mills, was fatally shot. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.
