Sarah Jane Kelley, aged 77, was found murdered in her Covington, Kentucky apartment on July 5, 1979. She was discovered by authorities after failing to attend a prayer meeting, a routine event in her life. Her body was located inside her second-floor apartment, and it was clear from the scene that burglary was not the motive, as $400 in cash and a Social Security check were found hidden under her mattress.
