Does anyone else find the story about Lunas Jerald Morris and the stranger really puzzling? It seems so odd that anything significant enough to cause tension didn't lead to any records or investigations, especially considering Morris's apparent suspicion and past experiences. I've been thinking about what might have been going on in such a small community during the 1920s to create this kind of atmosphere. Maybe it's just me, but could it be possible that the lack of investigation or documented evidence was a sign of something more subtle happening in Boonesville? I'm curious if anyone has come across similar historic cases where tensions like these remained unresolved due to social dynamics or reluctance to involve authorities. It's really sad that Morris's story ends with so many questions and little closure. Thinking of Nellie, who had to carry on without ever knowing more about her father's mysterious passing, my heart goes out to her and the rest of their family.
