I’ve been following Elizabeth and Barbara Fassett’s case and cannot stop thinking about the poor UPS driver who stumbled upon the scene. Imagine doing your regular delivery rounds and coming across something so horrifying. It must’ve been shocking and traumatic for them. My heart goes out to Elizabeth and Barbara's family and friends as they navigate this unimaginable situation, but I also hope that the UPS driver received the support and counseling needed to process such an experience. Does anyone know if there were any discussions in the news about how this impacted individuals on the periphery of the crime scene, like the UPS driver? It’s a reminder of how bystanders can be unintentionally drawn into these tragic events and the ripple effects it causes in so many lives.
I was reading about the case of Elizabeth and Barbara Fassett, and it's just so sad to think about how much they meant to their community. What really stands out to me is the role domestic violence seemed to play here. It's a reminder of how important it is for us as a community to support those who might be in similar situations. Elizabeth was known for her compassionate nature and had so much to offer as a talented writer. It’s just a devastating loss.
Also, kudos to the UPS driver who didn't ignore the open door. I can only imagine how unsettling it must have been to find things amiss and then take the initiative to report it. I hope we can all learn from this tragedy and be more vigilant in looking out for one another.
If anyone here has resources or knows of ways we can support organizations dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence, please share. This case has really opened my eyes to the seriousness of situations some people face in silence.
