Has anyone else noticed how odd it is that Charles and Catherine Romer’s vehicle was found so close to where they vanished? I mean, it was submerged right near the hotel they last checked into. It's wild to think the key to this whole mystery was less than a mile away for all these years.
I always wondered if maybe they intended to leave but something went wrong right there on the hotel grounds. Given the location, I'm leaning towards the accident theory, but how could a car accidentally reverse that far into a pond without someone noticing? Do you think the area was different back then in terms of visibility or traffic? Or was it just the middle of the night with no one around? Crazy to think about the possibilities.
Anyone who knows the area back in the 80s - was it pretty deserted or could people have easily overlooked a car going into the water? It's just perplexing why this went unnoticed for so long despite the many searches done back then.
Did anyone else find the whole jewelry angle in the Romer case kind of baffling? $81,000 worth of jewelry just feels like such a huge detail to overlook, especially since they vanished without a trace back then. I get that it's part of why people suspected foul play, but with the discovery of their car and remains, I'm now wondering if the jewelry wasn’t a motive at all. Maybe it was just an unfortunate accident? I suppose that’s always been a possibility, but it’s just surreal how the car managed to stay hidden all those years. I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on why backs of hotels like that could have been so poorly investigated back then. Surely the pond’s proximity to the hotel would make it a likely place to search, right? Maybe just a sign of the times and limitations in search technology? Would love to hear other people’s insights on this aspect!
Hi everyone,
I've been following the Romer case for a while, and one aspect that's been lingering in my mind is that bottle of scotch found in their hotel room. It's always struck me as odd. Could there have been some kind of altercation that evening? Did the scotch play a role in the unfortunate events that followed? While we now have some closure with the discovery of their car and remains, it's still maddening not knowing the exact chain of events. Has anyone else looked into whether the scotch could be tied to any other known details? Just seems like a loose end that could offer some insight into what happened that night. Would love to hear your thoughts.
