Wow, just stumbled back onto Harold's case again and can't shake off this detail about the skiff he went missing from. Does anyone know if there was ever any mention of the condition of the skiff when it was found? I read somewhere that weather conditions were a bit rough around that time, which makes me wonder if it was something with the skiff itself. Like, were there any mechanical issues reported before he disappeared, or was it just bad luck with the weather? Any sleuths out there with boating experience who can shed some light on how those small vessels typically hold up in rough waters?
Has anyone else come across the weather reports from the Sea Otter Sound area around the time Harold disappeared? I recently found some old data and it seems like there were unexpected weather shifts that day, with strong winds picking up in the afternoon. Could this have played a part in what happened to him? I know he's presumed deceased, but it just makes me wonder if the weather played a bigger role than initially thought. Maybe it hampered search efforts too. What do you all think?
