Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about Emma McComber and her role in this tragic case. Corey Jr. tends to get a lot of focus, but Emma deserves our thoughts too. It’s so devastating to imagine a 12-year-old trying to make sense of the chaos around her. It sounds like William McComber, her dad, did everything he could to protect her by warning authorities, but the system failed him and the kids. Emma’s story, caught in the middle of such extreme circumstances, really highlights the urgent need for better protective measures for children in volatile situations. I hope that sharing her experience will help drive change for other families in the future. Sending thoughts to all who knew and loved Emma. ?

I've been thinking a lot about William McComber's warnings and how they seem to have been overlooked before this tragedy took place. It really makes me question how these warning systems are supposed to work. If someone repeatedly calls attention to violent behavior, shouldn't there be some mechanism to evaluate and possibly intervene before it gets to a point like this? It's so painful imagining what William must be going through, having tried to protect his daughter from something so terrible. I can't even begin to fathom the agony of knowing things could've turned out differently if only someone had listened. It seems like another tragic example of the system failing those most in need of protection. How many warnings does it take before someone steps in? I just hope this prompts some real changes in handling these cases in the future. My heart goes out to the families who are left dealing with the aftermath of these preventable losses.

I came across this case recently while going through some old crime stories, and I'm incredibly touched by the strength of William McComber. It must be unimaginable to live with the knowledge that he raised concerns about Corey LaValley Sr. and yet couldn't prevent the tragedy. It's a chilling reminder of how important it is for the system to take warning signs seriously. Even though the plea deal and sentencing were meant to offer some kind of justice, I can't help but think about the "what-ifs." What if someone had acted on William's warnings sooner? What do you all think can be done to ensure that authorities take such warnings more seriously in the future? My heart goes out to both families involved; it's a devastating loss that no one should ever have to endure.
