I've been following the case of Jason missing from the fishing vessel Crabber Lin J, and I'm puzzled by the timing. I read somewhere that heavy sea icing conditions were reported in the area for days before the incident. Can anyone with maritime experience weigh in on how common it is for vessels to continue operating in such risky conditions? Was there any pressure on the crew to meet quotas, or could this have been a case of misjudging the weather? My heart goes out to his family, and I hope they find some answers soon.
Has anyone else been thinking about the safety measures on the smaller vessels like the Crabber Lin J? I mean, with the conditions out there, especially around St. Paul Island, you’d think these boats would be equipped to handle heavy sea icing better. Was there any mention of distress signals being sent before it sank? It just seems like there should be more robust protocols or equipment to prevent these tragedies from happening. Just heartbreaking to think about how preventable this might’ve been. Hoping we can learn more from this incident to ensure others are kept safe. Any thoughts on what could be done?
Hey everyone,
I'm really curious about that case involving Jason from the Crabber Lin J. I read that they encountered some heavy sea icing before the boat sank. Does anyone here know what kind of precautions or protocols fishing vessels usually follow in those conditions to prevent icing? It seems like such a terrifying situation to be caught in. I can't even imagine how quickly something like that could happen if the crew wasn't prepared or if there was a sudden change in weather. If anyone has any insights or similar experiences, I'd love to hear more about how these crews manage such dangerous conditions.
