Hey everyone, I was browsing through some old case files and stumbled upon the disappearance and murder of Odell Vest from back in 2000. Something that's really catching my eye is the location of where he was last seen – Towaoc, during a party. Given the small community size and the nature of such gatherings, someone there must have seen or heard something that could be crucial.
I remember reading that sometimes these cases get overlooked or filed away, but it seems like the National Strategy to Address Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons is really pushing this back into the spotlight. It makes me hopeful that maybe someone will remember details, maybe triggered by a conversation or a memory that's resurfaced after all these years.
What I'm curious about is whether anyone on here has any insights on the show of effort from both the FBI and tribal law enforcement. Have similar initiatives in other states led to any breakthroughs? I think knowing this might help set expectations for what might happen with Odell’s case now that there's renewed focus.
Has anyone else been following the recent developments in the Odell Vest case? It's been over two decades since he vanished from that party in Towaoc, and now, thanks to the refreshed focus on missing and murdered Indigenous Persons, it seems like his case might be getting the attention it's always deserved. I didn't know much about it until I saw the FBI's Seeking Information poster being shared around.
The fact that the FBI is offering a $10,000 reward could really be a game-changer. I'm curious about the dynamics at the party he attended. It seems like someone there must remember something. Small towns tend to have those networks where everyone knows a tidbit, even if it's not the full story. Here's hoping that the renewed attention, and maybe someone’s conscience, can help solve this case. It's so important for the truth to come out.
Anyone local to Towaoc or the surrounding areas notice any past tensions or rumors about what happened that night back in July 2000? Would love to hear thoughts on how communities deal with these cold cases reopening.
