Just stumbled upon this tragic case, and it gets me thinking about the impact on the families left behind. I can't even begin to imagine the roller coaster of emotions they must have gone through, especially with the shocking nature of the incident and how swiftly it was concluded. With Danny Paul Smith being identified as the shooter and his subsequent death, it must have been so hard for the families to grapple with the fact that there might never be a full sense of closure or answers to all their questions. It must feel like a wound that's difficult to heal. My heart goes out to everyone who cared for Mark Hatfield and Diane Pierce-Smith. It seems like the New Hope community lost two cherished souls in such a heartbreaking way. Does anyone know if there were any memorials or remembrances hosted by the community beyond the funerals? I think honoring their memories can be a source of comfort and collective healing.
