Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the discussion around Earnest Lee Felton’s case, and something that's been on my mind is the role of community mistrust in these investigations. It's clear Earnest was beloved, and it's just awful that his life was taken in such a senseless way. Given the outpouring of love for him, it seems odd that more people haven’t stepped forward with information. Could it be fear of retaliation, or maybe distrust in the authorities?
Sheriff Walker has mentioned having leads, which gives me hope, but I'm curious—how does a community overcome these trust issues? It feels like finding Earnest's killer hinges not just on the investigators but also on the residents feeling safe enough to share what they know. Anyone else have thoughts on how to build that trust or examples from other communities?
Thinking of Earnest's family and friends right now. I can't imagine their pain, and I hope we see answers soon.
