Hi everyone, I've been following Emmanuel Badillo's case and was struck by the community's response after his tragic death. It really shows how tight-knit these neighborhoods are despite the ongoing violence. There were several vigils held in his honor, which brought together people from different walks of life who all shared the same desire for a safer community. These gatherings seem to offer a bit of solace to those grieving, but they also serve as a powerful reminder that the community is determined to push for change. I think it’s crucial for us to acknowledge the efforts of these residents who, even in their pain, are stepping up to fight for resources and alternatives to the gang culture that has claimed so many lives, including Emmanuel's. The strength and resilience shown by the family and neighbors during such trying times are beyond admirable. If anybody here attended one of these vigils or has ever been involved in similar community efforts, I’d love to hear about your experiences and what you think might truly make a difference. We can honor Emmanuel and others by continuing to engage and support the people making a positive impact.
