Hi everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the safety measures, or lack thereof, in neighborhoods affected by gang violence. It's utterly disheartening how Yolanda Paige moved to Oak Park in search of a safer environment for Damani, only to lose him in such a violent act. It raises so many questions about what more can be done to protect our children when they visit areas they once considered home. I can't help but wonder, how can communities band together to ensure that families like Damani's have the peace of mind they seek? It's so crucial that there are meaningful changes to support neighborhoods and provide them with the resources they need to prevent tragedies like this.
