I was reading through the details of the Excel Industries shooting, and one part that stood out to me was the lawsuit against A Pawn Shop in Newton, Kansas. It really highlights how there are so many layers to this tragedy, beyond the devastating loss of Josh Higbee and the others. The fact that the pawn shop faced a $2 million settlement and eventually closed its firearms sales is a big deal. I keep thinking about how important it is to have accountability at every level to hopefully prevent something like this from happening again. I'm glad there was some sort of justice, even if nothing can ever bring Josh and the others back. My heart goes out to all the families affected. It's clear that Josh was a cherished member of his community, and it's touching to see how people have rallied around his family. It really shows the strength and love that can arise after such a senseless event.
