Has anyone looked into the possible connections between the burglar and the incidents at the nearby mining camps around the same time? I've been digging into some old records and it seems like there was an influx of transient workers in Goldfield around the 1902 incident. Many of them came and went without any real accountability or documentation, which could have made it easy for someone to commit a crime and disappear without much trace. I can't help but wonder if the perpetrator took advantage of the chaos and anonymity that the mining rush brought to the area. It's really tough to think about Marshal Cate walking into such a dangerous situation just trying to do his job. He must have been well aware of the risks, yet he still put himself in harm's way to protect the community. If there's anyone who has more insights or access to old town records or articles, it could be worth diving deeper into the movements of people in and out of Goldfield during that period. Maybe there's a lead that simply got overlooked due to the hectic nature of the times. Just a thought.
