Did anyone else find the timing of Sergeant McLaughlin's memorial service to be particularly moving? I couldn't help but be struck by how it was held right at the end of the year. It felt as though it allowed everyone in the community—his family, friends, and fellow officers—to process this terrible loss through the holiday season and enter the new year with a moment to honor his life and service. It must have been extremely difficult for his family to endure such a loss during what is usually a festive time, but perhaps having that communal support offered some comfort. For those that attended or heard about it, did his family or department express how they're managing in the aftermath?
