I’ve been thinking a lot about Emily Keyes and the incredible resilience shown by her family and friends in the wake of such an unimaginable tragedy. It’s clear that Emily impacted so many lives with her kindness and spirit, and the community’s response really highlights how deeply she was loved. The fact that her mantra, "I Choose Love," has become a rallying cry for hope and compassion is truly moving. It's so important that we continue to honor her memory by spreading the kindness and positivity she believed in. I’m grateful to see that the “Emily’s Parade” and other initiatives are keeping her legacy alive and showing that light can indeed shine through even the darkest times. Sending all my strength to the Keyes family and everyone affected by this terrible event.
It's so hard to grasp that something so devastating happened in the small community of Bailey, Colorado. One aspect that chills me is how Morrison managed to enter the school so easily. It's unsettling how his appearance—just a grey-haired man in a blue hoodie—allowed him to blend in as if he belonged there. It’s a stark reminder of how appearances can be deceiving and how vulnerable our schools can be. I keep thinking about the security measures in place at that time and wondering if there were any signs that could've tipped someone off before things escalated. It makes me appreciate just how crucial it is for us to continue improving school security everywhere. My heart truly goes out to Emily’s family, friends, and the entire community; the ripples of this tragedy must still affect them deeply.
