I’ve been thinking a lot about hunting safety since hearing about Ernest Ackerly’s tragic death. It’s truly awful what happened up there in Grand County. I’m an avid hunter myself, and this incident really hit close to home. It’s a stark reminder that no matter how experienced or careful we are, accidents can still happen in the blink of an eye.
It's hard not to feel for Ernie’s family and friends. They must be going through such a difficult time right now. It makes me wonder what kind of safety measures were in place, and if anything more could have been done to prevent this kind of tragedy.
I hope they’re able to investigate every aspect thoroughly and maybe learn something that can prevent future accidents. Ernie deserved to be out there doing what he loved without such a risk hanging over him. Just so devastating to see a day that was supposed to be filled with adventure and camaraderie end this way. My thoughts are with all who loved him during this time.
I've been following the case of Ernest “Ernie” Ackerly with such a heavy heart. This seems like one of those tragic accidents that leaves a mark on everyone involved, especially given the circumstances. I can't imagine what Ernie's family and friends are going through right now, and my thoughts are with them deeply. The early reports suggest it might have been a tragic accident, but it has me thinking about how we, as a hunting community, need to prioritize safety even more. It's so important to ensure everyone knows proper gun safety and communication, particularly in those pre-dawn hours when everyone's just waking up and preparing for the hunt. Of course, until all the facts are in, we don't really know what happened, but I hope this brings to light the need for better safety measures to prevent such heartbreak in the future.
I’ve been following the Ernest "Ernie" Ackerly case, and it’s just such a devastating tragedy for everyone involved. I’m from Colorado too, and hunting accidents are one of those things you always hope you never hear about. It got me thinking about how important safety measures are when out there in the wilderness. It’s a beautiful area, but things like this remind us how quickly accidents can happen.
From what I gather, Ernie was a seasoned hunter. It makes me wonder if maybe some unforeseen event distracted them or led to the firearm discharging. Either way, I feel for his family and the hunting partner who was there that morning. I can’t imagine what they’re going through—a classic morning that turned into a nightmare.
I hope this incident leads to even more awareness and maybe some additional training or regulations that can help prevent situations like this in the future. It must be incredibly hard for his close ones, not having answers yet but knowing that everyone is working hard to understand just what went wrong. Sending my thoughts to all touched by this loss.
