I've been following the Christian Glass case, and I am utterly at a loss when it comes to understanding why de-escalation wasn't prioritized from the start. It breaks my heart knowing someone in distress couldn't trust the very people sent to aid him. From what I gather, Christian was clearly scared and reached out for help, and instead of feeling supported, he found himself in an even worse situation. It's crucial for law enforcement agencies to invest more in mental health training and recognize the signs of someone in crisis. Why is it that so many cases like this end in tragedy instead of an intervention that shows compassion and understanding? My thoughts go out to Christian's family, who not only have to deal with their loss but also the way their loved one's plea for help turned into such a disaster. It’s a painful reminder of the work we need to do as a society to protect and support those who are vulnerable. Let's hope this tragic event leads to meaningful changes in policing practices. What are your thoughts on what could have been done differently?
