It's incredibly sad to hear about what happened to David A. Soto. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this unbearable time. It's shocking how another life has been senselessly lost in Humboldt Park. This neighborhood seems to be right in the middle of such a complex situation. I can’t help but wonder about the everyday lives of people who live there—they deserve to feel safe in their own homes and communities. It seems like no matter how much progress we think we've made, stories like David's remind us just how far we still have to go. I know there are good people working hard to make positive changes, but the road ahead is daunting. It feels like every step forward is met with two steps back. If anyone has updates on new initiatives in the area or knows of community efforts that could use support, I'd be interested in learning more about what's being done to prevent more tragic losses like this one.
