I've been following Corey's case, and my heart goes out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. What really stands out to me is how young he was—just 15. It's hard to grasp how a teenager with so much life ahead of him could become wrapped up in such a senseless act of violence. I can't stop thinking about the impact of this tragedy on his school and friends. Losing a classmate is a traumatic experience, and it must have changed the atmosphere at his school. I wonder if there were ongoing conversations among students and teachers about feeling safe while just walking in their neighborhood. I'm sure the school tried to offer support, but it makes me wonder what more can be done to keep kids safe and provide them the sense of security they deserve. It's so important for us to keep talking about these issues and advocating for change, especially in neighborhoods that have been historically underserved and overlooked. If anyone has experiences or thoughts on community initiatives that have made a difference, I'd love to hear more about them.
