Hey everyone, It's devastating to see another young life taken so senselessly. Tridell Parker was known around the South Austin neighborhood as someone who could light up the room with his smile. It's so poignant to think about how someone with such a radiant presence is no longer with us. He was just starting out and had big dreams with his music career. I walked by the place recently where friends have set up candles and flowers in his memory—it was a sobering reminder of the loss felt by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. How is it that these same spots, like this gas station, keep being reoccurring sites of such sadness? I'm wondering what more can be done community-wise? I know some efforts are already underway, but clearly more needs to be amplified. Sending my thoughts to everyone impacted by not just this loss but all the similar tragedies happening around our city. Stay strong, everyone.
