Has anyone else noticed how tragically common these kinds of incidents have become, especially back in 2017? Guy Lopez's death in Hegewisch still sticks with me, and I can't help but think about his family and friends every time another report of gun violence surfaces. There was so much potential in someone with his whole life ahead, and it's incredibly frustrating to see these losses continue without significant change. The community comes together with tributes and vigils, but it's like we're in a cycle of mourning with no end in sight. Has anyone heard of any community initiatives that have actually made a difference in reducing this kind of violence? It feels critical that we find ways to support each other and stop these tragedies from repeating.
