I'm really concerned about how vacant and boarded-up properties become such magnets for crime. ? It’s so sad what happened to Brian Hendricks, and my heart goes out to his friends and family during this tragic time. I was reading that the house where he was found had a history of issues, like squatters and even a previous fire. I can’t help but wonder why Horizon Trust Co., the supposed owners, has been so unresponsive to the neighborhood’s concerns. Does anyone have any insight into whether absentee landlords like this face any legal responsibility when tragedies occur on properties they neglect? It seems like the community did what they could by reaching out for help. Perhaps this awful incident can spur some change and prevent future tragedies. ?
Hey everyone,
I feel so much for Brian Hendricks' family and friends right now. It's incredibly unsettling to learn about the state of that house on Collier Street. It’s like the neighborhood knew something like this might eventually happen with the way they’d tried to contact the property owners. I can't imagine being surrounded by such tension and uncertainty. The fact that Horizon Trust Co. didn’t respond to neighborhood concerns is beyond frustrating. It makes me wonder if that lack of action contributed to the tragedy somehow. You have to ask, could this have been avoided with more responsible property management? I’m hopeful the investigation will also look into the property ownership side of things, not just the crime itself. It must be so challenging for the people living nearby, and my heart genuinely goes out to all those who knew Brian. Sending love to everyone who’s hurting right now. ?
