Has anyone else looked into the details surrounding that mysterious confession letter from 'Reuter' in the Ambrose Small case? It's such an intriguing aspect that seems to pop up occasionally but never gets the full attention it might deserve. The letter claimed Ambrose was murdered and his body was disposed of in the Grand Opera House furnace, which gives us a pretty chilling visual if you think about it.
I know people have cast doubt on this letter, maybe dismissing it as a hoax or a potential lead gone cold, but I can't help but wonder about its origins. Did the police ever thoroughly investigate 'Reuter' and what their motivations might have been for making these claims?
If true, disposing of a body in a furnace would indeed be an ingenious way to cover up a murder back in the day. But without any evidence or witnesses backing up the letter's allegations, I guess it's just another dead end in this tangled web of a case. I wonder if there might be any records or files from back then that could shed some light on the authenticity of the letter. Anyone have any info on whether this was ever explored further?
