Do any of you find it strange how George Weeden, with his injuries, could manage a hunting trip in such a rough terrain? I've been diving deep into this case and can't wrap my head around it. George was severely limited physically, and from what I've read, those woods near Chapleau are not forgiving. It just doesn't add up in my mind that they'd stray far from the railway line. You'd think at the very least there'd be some evidence or a trail left behind simply due to George's inability to move quickly. Has anyone looked deeply into the possibility that their intended route was well-charted beforehand, perhaps suggesting someone was lying in wait? Just fishing for thoughts here, but given their last meal was left untouched, it feels like they might have had a quicker detour than planned.
Also, would love to know if anyone local has spoken to old-timers or family members in the area who might remember any peculiar stories from around that time. Sometimes rumors can wade through the passage of time better than official reports.
