I've been deep into this case, and one thing I can't stop thinking about is the decision to fire the shotgun shots into the air. It's so haunting to imagine, especially knowing that these were likely their last hopes of making contact with Frederick and the others. I wonder if they ever second-guessed themselves afterward, like if there was anything else they could have done in that moment. Given the rough waters and poor visibility, I'm sure it was a gut-wrenching decision. Such a chilling reminder of how a seemingly simple day can take a devastating turn. Anyone know if similar incidents happened in that area? Seems like a really tricky place to navigate once the weather turns.
