I came across Joseph Whitaker's missing person case and something that sticks out to me is the timing of when he was officially listed in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. It seems odd that it took until February 2026 for his case to be documented there, considering he was last in contact in October 2025. That's nearly five months! Is this kind of delay normal for missing persons? I get that the authorities might have their reasons, but it feels like a long time, especially for a vulnerable adult. You'd think an immediate entry might help gather more public tips and sightings early on when they might be most useful. Does anyone else have insight into how these cases are typically processed or why there might be such a delay? ?️♂️
