Hey everyone,
I've been reflecting on the situation with Garrett James Hawk and something's been bothering me since I read about it—how could law enforcement not respond more decisively given the escalating threats his family faced? It seems those menacing messages and acts of vandalism were clear red flags. I can't help but wonder if the lack of intervention by authorities might've added to the feeling of vulnerability for his family. It's hard not to feel frustrated on behalf of his loved ones who were basically left to fend for themselves.
Garrett seemed like a truly remarkable person who devoted himself to safeguarding his family and community. It's inspiring to hear how the tribe is stepping up with their initiatives, but it shouldn't have come to this tragic point for action to be taken. It's crucial that these efforts lead to lasting changes in law enforcement responsiveness for the reservation.
For his family and the community's sake, I sincerely hope justice will be served and that Garrett's legacy will drive the change that’s desperately needed. Stay strong, everyone ❤

I’ve been following Garrett Hawk's case closely, and I can't shake the frustration around the law enforcement response prior to his death. It’s infuriating to think that multiple warnings about escalating threats went largely ignored. How many times can a community cry for help without being heard before something tragic happens?
It makes my heart ache for Garrett and his family, knowing he felt he had to step up and protect his loved ones because no one else would. His story is a stark reminder of how urgently things need to change regarding police response on reservations. Isn't it about time that federal and local authorities get on the same page and provide the resources needed to safeguard these communities?
It warms my heart to see the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe taking action by declaring a state of emergency and forming a night patrol, but I can't help but think that Garrett’s life could have been saved if only the warnings were taken seriously earlier. My thoughts are with his family, and I hope their advocacy leads to a safer future for the entire community.
