It's been over two decades since Billie Jo Hughes vanished, and I'm still baffled by the circumstances surrounding her last known movements. What's particularly intriguing is the sighting of her walking towards a pay phone near the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 20 in Pelzer. Did anyone ever look into who she might have been trying to contact? Public pay phones often had call records back in the day—couldn't those have offered some clues back then?
I'm curious if the investigators revisited this angle when they identified the two persons of interest. It seems like such a pivotal moment that might hold answers. Anyone else think there may be more to the pay phone connection?
I came across this case recently, and something's been bugging me about the person or people she met up with on the day she went missing. Billie Jo was seen on her way to a pay phone — does anyone know if the police ever tracked down who she was trying to call? It seems like whoever was on the other end could have some crucial information! Also, did anyone happen to check which specific phone booths were in use in that area around the time of her disappearance? Maybe having access to phone records from then could shed some light on who she reached out to. It seems like this might be a forgotten detail after all these years. Would love to hear thoughts or any info anyone else might have on this angle!
